 Maurice A. Fetty

The Rev. Maurice A. Fetty was the Interim Senior Minister of the First (Park) Congregational Church (United Church of Christ), Grand Rapids, MI 2001-2005. Before that he retired as the Senior Minister of the Congregational Church (United Church Christ) of Manhasset, NY where he served from 1988-2001.  From 1972-1988 he was Senior Minister of the Mayflower Congregational Church, Grand Rapids, MI.  Previous ministries were Teaching Minister, Colonial (Congregational) Church, Edina, MN 1967-1972, Director La Hermosa Christian Institute and Associate Minister, La Hermosa Christan Church (Disciples of Christ), Manhattan, NY, 1965-1967, and Minister of the Flatbush Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Brooklyn, NY   1962-1965.  From 1992-2001 he served as Adjunct Instructor in Theology at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY.

Rev. Fetty holds the Master of Sacred Theology Degree from Union Theological Seminary, New York City, the Master of Arts Degree from Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, the Master of Divinity Degree from Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, IN and the Bachelor of Arts Degree from Minnesota Bible College, Minneapolis, MN (now closed).  Rev. Fetty is the author of the following published books:  Putting Your Life On The Line, Prayers For A New Day, The Divine Advocacy, Sex, Love, and Marriage, How To Profit From Prophets, The Challenge of Starting All Over Again, A God for This World, The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ, What’s A Mother (Father) to Do?, Money and the Kingdom of God, The Feasts of the Kingdom, The Devilish Dialogues with the Rev. Dr. Arthur A. Rouner, Jr., Birth Pangs of a New Age, Adventuring Into the New Age.  He also has three sermons published in the Library of Distinctive Sermons, Vols I and II. He is the author of numerous magazine and newspaper articles and has been actively involved in many community groups and has served on a variety of boards and committees of denominational and ecumenical organizations.

Rev. Fetty has traveled extensively and has led International Religious Heritage Tours to China, Israel, Greece, Turkey, England, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Morocco, France, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Ecuador, Peru, Galapagos Islands, and South Africa.  He has in addition traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Puerto Rico, Belgium, the Netherlands, various Caribbean Islands, Canada and Mexico.  For twelve years he led annual 5-day Theater Tours to London, England.  He lectures on a wide range of topics including, The Dead Sea Scrolls, Belief and Doubt, Why Religion Matters, The History of God, The Case for God, The Battle for God, The Unfolding Drama of the Bible, How the Bible Came to Be, and others. Rev. Fetty was widowed, and then was married to the widow, the late Rev. Sara A. Fetty. They have a blended family of six children, fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
